There are all sorts of activities for adults to get involved in at the Centre. Here's some more information about some of the groups that meet on a weekly and monthly basis. For more information, please call us on 611913.

U3A-logo

U3A groups are self-help, self-managed lifelong learning co-operatives for older people no longer in full time work, providing opportunities for their members to share learning experiences in a wide range of interest groups and to pursue learning not for qualifications, but for fun.

Community and Family Learning: Providing learning programmes for adults in community settings in a range of subjects in order to support personal development, well being and community spirit. The service also manages the Carnival Learning Centre in Ryde and supports carnival arts across the Island. Family Learning programmes encourage families to learn together; to gain skills in helping support their children's learning and/or brush up their own skills in reading, writing and maths

Good English and Maths skills can be life enhancing, affect people's job prospects, their ability to manage their own affairs and the support they can offer their families.

To ensure that everyone can improve their skills and gain these qualifications, The Isle of Wight College offer courses in English and Maths at a variety of venues around the island, at the college campus, in our learndirect centre and now in the workplace as well!

Law Centres are embedded in their communities and answer to committees of local people. They assist vulnerable people when they suffer injustice, educate people about their rights and tackle local problems.

The WI plays a unique role in providing women with educational opportunities and the chance to build new skills, to take part in a wide variety of activities and to campaign on issues that matter to them and their communities.
